The works of sculptor and painter Anita Fleerackers (63) from Gierle are also gaining more and more resonance abroad. The artist also started digital art a few years ago by editing digital photos of existing images and then capturing them on plexiglass.
“Just recently I was invited to exhibit my works Crazy Bull Red Blue and Indian Summer Bull during a fair at the Architecture Biennale at the German Goethe Institute in Venice,” explains Anita Fleerackers. “My participation in all these contiguous exhibitions concluded with an International Art Fair where I myself was present with six more works during the seventeen-day exhibition.”
For the Campine creative, her participation in the exhibition was an impressive experience. “I was able to exchange all kinds of thoughts and experiences with artists from all over the world. And I met many young people with a new vision about the developments happening in the art world today,” the artist explains. “The digital developments in art are incredible. A layman cannot tell the difference if something is produced manually or by machine. We cannot ignore these new developments. On the way home, I decided to do something with this and share my experiences.”
The exhibition Back from Venice isstill free to visit on Friday, Oct. 27, Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29, each time from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Hemeldonk 9 in Gierle. (bvdl)
