With the motto Love for Music, Anita Fleerackers is presenting some of her artworks at the library on Pastorijstraat in Kasterlee. One of the eye-catchers at the expo is an artwork in clay of a pianist with a cat. Visitors can also learn about other works such as digital art. Several years ago, Anita Fleerackers started editing digital photos of existing images to then capture them on plexiglass.
Anita Fleerackers went a step further by turning to virtual reality (VR). Jens Vanspauwen, a staff member at the Kasterlee library, suggested she let visitors discover her art with VR glasses. “Jens lent me a camera for a week to film and photograph in different places. Later he lent me his VR glasses for a whole year and taught me how to work with them,” Anita Fleerackers explained.
Camera and glasses
“Meanwhile, I purchased a camera and VI glasses of my own. Visitors or other interested parties can use the VR glasses to take a virtual walk through my artistic world. It is a living project, because this is just the beginning. I still have a lot to tell and a lot to show because I have already exhibited a lot.”
Anita Fleerackers’ year-end exhibition is open until Saturday, Dec. 20, during the library’s opening hours. The artist will be present with her VR glasses on Mondays, December 8 and 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each time.
